Designer and sculptor Bruce Gray created his Triad Chair completely by hand (Figure 7). The individual pieces of 50/52 aluminum sheet were cut with a 40 amp plasma cutter and MIG welded with a 1 lb spool gun. Not only does Gray use aluminum for its shiny appearance, easy workability, and corrosion resistance, but he says the light weight makes his limited edition sculptures easier to handle and ship than other materials.
